MJM Yachts 10th Annual Owners Luncheon Rendezvous

It was all fun, stories, and an afternoon of boating when more than 80 people attended the 10th Annual Owners Rendezvous Friday Luncheon at the Naples Yacht Club. A record turnout of 31 boats were represented. There was plenty of food, laughs, and camaraderie as new and seasoned owners alike shared tales of adventure, exploration, and family fun aboard their MJMs. Builders Mark Lindsay and Scott Smith of Boston BoatWorks and the MJM Customer Support Team of Jon Clermont, Raphael Silva and Mike Hall were present and lauded for the high level of quality and responsiveness in dealing with even the smallest of issues.
John Urban from the Mystic Seaport* was the featured speaker, showing a sampling of the million images from the Seaport’s extensive Rosenfeld Collection… from father and three sons, who for more than 111 years photographed America’s maritime experience in power and sail.
Founder Bob Johnstone gave his “State of the Brand” address, then with designer Doug Zurn told the story of how MJM’s patented, signature look evolved, explaining the seaworthiness of MJM’s exceptional hull design and illustrating where some design elements came from using photos of all-time classic favorites: an Elco PT Boat, Matthews Cruiser, Adirondack Runabout, Carolina Sportfish and Maine Lobster boat.
*In October, Bob and his Brother Rod of J/Boats were presented with the Seaport’s prestigious America and the Sea Award of 2016 for their contribution to the country’s nautical traditions.
The traditional post-luncheon MJM Yacht Parade had 9 of the 16 boats in the area participate…cruising up into the harbor, then down the narrow bay and out Gordon Pass to indulge in some high speed MJM fun in a 3-foot chop
MJM owners span the world, from Australia, to Italy, to Sweden, Maine and out to the West Coast. Coming together to share and learn is a tradition going back over a century and MJM is proud to be a part of this great American pastime.
